Overview on Some Stressing Equipment

By Abe D. Walton

For a structure to overcome its natural vulnerability to tension, Stressing Equipment is used. Duly for its purpose, Stressing Equipment hardens the surface, lessening the stress on the structure itself. Below is a list highlighting a number of various equipment used in stressing.

The Swaging Jack It is a lightweight machine that is used to swag a barrel or a wedge set to crush it. This is required to ready the ends of a prestressing cable giving way to create an anchor point. The Swaging Jack is powered either manually hand pumping it or by a machine. It can be used and adapted anywhere and at any time. The equipment itself usually weighs about 8 to 10 kilograms but carries a weight capacity ranging from 10 to 25 tons.

The Onion Jack Considered to be a heavy duty machine, the Onion Jack can be operated either by hand pumping or by use of a machine. The use of this machine eliminates the need for barrels, anchor plates or even wedges on the structure, as reinforcement. The anchor loci are created by this equipment directly for use with prestressing cables. It weighs about 10 kilograms and has the capacity to machine up to 10 tons. Despite of its ability for heavy duty work, this equipment is lightweight and reasonably portable. Its round shape feature is the reason why this equipment is called exactly that of an Onion because it spreads and separates the individual wires of a cable- which ultimately resembles into an onion shape.

Multi-Strand Jack Using this equipment saves the time needed to stress each strand of a cable individually with one step. As the name says it, a multi-strand jack stresses all the strands in the cable simultaneously and swiftly, but, accurately. Some multi-strand jacks can be customized to suit the specific strand pattern a client desires. Along with the strand patter, in order to meet your specific needs, a centre hole jack can be custom made. This equipment can withstand one hundred ten tons to one thousand three hundred tons.

The Mono Jacks There are three types of mono jack. One is the type that has the capacity of ten ton, and weighs around eight kilograms. This mono jack is usually used in the mining industry. Next, this mono jack has the capacity of seventeen tons, and weighs about fifteen kilograms. Finally, another is a mono jack that has the capacity of twenty five tons, and several stressing strokes to suit a constructor's needs.

The Staple Machine Even without adequate air, some staple machines in the structure reinforcement industry, or prestressing industry, can be used on the site. Having such staple machines to attach strand chairs on to be able to assist workers is truly magnificent. For additional information, most staple machines need air pressure in order to drive the bolts into a surface, this is what makes the Staple machine extra ordinary.

Stressing Equipment 5: The Grout Pump Some Grout Pumps come with steel injection nozzle, calibrated gauge and delivery hose. The Grout Pump can weigh more or less than three hundred kilograms. A grout is a mortar applied in-between two surfaces as a finishing touch, or at times as means for attachment. The application of grout becomes less messy, as well as easier, with the Grout Pump.

The Accessories A number of these machineries' performance is further enhanced when affixed with accessories. These accessories could be: staples, wedges, ducting, anchor blocks and onion jaws. Mono jack noses, wire conversion kits, and, anchors and castings, are also just a few added on the list of other stressing equipment accessories that comes in handy for its unique uses, respectively.
